From Kenny, Sweden:

Hello guys, got a question about K.K.'s microphone settings, does he use his EMG 81 in the neck or the 85 in neck position? :) And what FX and amplifier does he really use for the nice sound of Judas Priest?

Hi Kenny. I use the 85 in the neck position and at the moment I am using the all in one pod pro xt which basically does everything, cheers.

Regards K.K.

From Josh:

Hey K.K.! First of all let me just say, about half a year ago I wrote you and I just about passed out when I saw you had actually used my question on your site! I really didn't think it would happen! I would also like to say I saw you guys in Toronto on August 13th, and of all the bands I've seen, KISS, Metallica, Sabbath, etc, you guys have now taken the number one spot on my list of favourite concerts. I even have the Priest Cross tattooed on my right arm. My question is a two parter. 1) As you've said you're coming back to the States, will that include Canadian tour dates as well? If so, is there any chance of a slight setlist change? You guys played all my favourites. ”Painkiller,” “Another Thing Comin’,” “Prophecy,” “Between The Hammer And The Anvil” etc but the only song I didn't get to see that I was really hoping to see was “Touch Of Evil.” That’s my second favourite Priest song and when you guys didn't play it I almost died inside. lol. Anyhow, thanks once more for your time!

Hi Josh. I am not sure yet if we have Canadian dates but I hope we do. And we are changing the set a lot including the whole of “British Steel.” Hope you like it.

Regards K.K.

From Varun, New Delhi :

Hello Mr. Downing. When are you going to plan a tour to India? People here are crazy about your music. You've been to places like Turkey and Chile so why not India? Bands like Megadeth have toured India in recent years and Iron Maiden liked the metalheads here so much that they've  come here 4 times in 4 years. It would be awesome if we could hear classics like “Victim Of Changes” played live. Hoping to see you in India.

Hi Varun. Yes we would love to play for you but it is all up to the promoters of India. We know we have many fans there so we will keep trying from our end.

Regards K.K.

From Craig Thomas (PREYER):

K.K., How are you? I’ve seen you twice on the recent tour in Brum and Cardiff - AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! I’m impressed with sound on the solo with the red hamer on the "believe or believe not" guitar interview - what effects are you using on the guitar altogether? We(PREYER) are due to record some new tracks at Rockfield some time in the near future - if you are at a loose end come down and  produce it for us. As you are well aware you are our biggest influence. Best Regards, Craig from Preyer.

Hi Craig. I am sorry but I can’t remember what I was using,it was quite a while ago. Have fun at Rockfield. We did some of “Sad Wings Of Destiny” there I think. They are writing a book about it I believe. Sorry but I am snowed under as usual. I am actually just finishing of a band called Hostile, then we are off to the States. But all the best to you and your band.

Regards K.K.

From Colin , Glasgow, Scotland:

I had a ticket for your gig at the SECC on 16th of February but unfortunately missed it due to being seriously ill in hospital. I’m very sorry I missed you as I am a big Judas Priest fan favourite song being “Metal Gods.” First question is are Glasgow really the best crowd in the world?

Also are you going to be touring again in the next couple of years in Glasgow because I would love to be there? You are definitely one of, if not my favourite guitarist.

Hi Colin. Sorry to hear about your illness. I hope that you are now fully recovered. I must say that the audience was pro-rate, the loudest in the U.K and certainly have a lot of other countries beat. There is a good chance you will catch us at some time, please keep checking in at the Steel Mill for info.

Regards K.K.

From Kym:

Hello K.K.! My name is Kym and I'm hoping to see you guys in concert sometime! I live in Southern Texas and hopefully I'll be able to catch a show if you guys stop near here. I'm a young guitar player and I'm very inspired by your playing! I've been playing for about a year now and I would like to know, what would be some great things to work on while practicing? I'd love to know some great advice from a great guitarist! Thanks! Rock on man!

Hi Kym. It really would depend on what style you like to play and then go for the appropriate scales and licks. These days if you like rock and metal all scales come in to play where as if say you want to be a blues player then really the blues scale is virtually enough as it incorporates pentatonic and natural minor also. There is so much on youtube that I would suggest you take a look at what takes your fancy for your level of play or simply put in a guitar player that you admire and there is bound to be some tutorials by them. I myself will be doing more soon. Best of luck.

Regards K.K.

From Boel, Sweden:

Hello dear K.K.! Now I am home from yet another incredible weekend in the UK in the name of the Priest ;) It has been fantastic to say the least! You keep on delivering the best of goods night after night and I really love the setlist. :) (and everything else of course, hehe!) The feelings you bring me in The INSANITY- ”Sinner” are impossible to describe in words! I love how we in the audience end up looking each other in the eyes thinking "Is this real?!". I wish you a good time in Germany and of course really look forward to next weekend, plus Wednesday, when you are here in Sweden! I hope and think that you will all feel very welcome, hehe! And if you want company for a beer or coffee or something, I am here! ;) Keep in touch!

P.S. My boyfriend Christian (of the band Portrait you have featured on the Steel Mill´s Metal Grinder, as I mentioned) was really glad I could say his "Hello" to you guys in person the other night but of course was sad he couldn’t be there himself (he is on tour with the band). He now only has his unused concert tickets and my stories as "memories", haha... I have some secret plans to maybe save up some money to be able to buy him a KxK-guitar one day :) Have you decided how many they will be limited to?

The shows in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö were really great!!! I am actually a bit ashamed of the Malmö-crowd though...:( It is my hometown and I really hoped for the best, but people seemed a bit tired that evening...bad!

You were great despite the crowd, hehe :) Too bad I haven’t got to meet you in Sweden! I am going to Paris in two weeks to see you again :D Really looking forward to the Paris-gig! And I wish you all the best in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal! See you in two weeks!

Hi Boel. I am glad you enjoyed the show, thanks for your letter.

Regards K.K.

From Herbert:

Hi K.K.,

I am Herbert Paul from India. I am a big Priest fan since 1986. I was wondering if you guys are coming to India anytime soon. Most of my favourite bands have come to Bangalore - the city where I stay in India. My life's ambition now is to see Judas Priest live. Other favourite bands of mine which i have seen live here are Iron Maiden (twice), Deep Purple, Scorpions, Uriah Heep, Megadeth and Joe Satriani. Priest for me has had an edge over all these guys and I am waiting to see you guys. I admire you and Glenn a lot. Both of you play like you are so much in sync into each others thinking. I voted you both as the best twin lead guitarist I have ever come across. So do you have plans to come to India? And when plllleeeaaaaaasssssseeeeeeeeeee? Huh it feels so great that I am actually sending a msg to one of my guitar heros.

Hi Herbert. Yes we would love to play in India and we are continually trying to get there so we will keep trying until we do.

Regards K.K.

From Jonas, Norway :

Hey Ken!

What ever happened to Rob’s vocals? I just saw you guys in Sweden and I was blown away, he nailed ALL the screams spot on. The intro scream on ”Between the Hammer and the Anvil” was so intense I didn't even hear your lick! I don't think he's been this good since before the ”Painkiller” tour.

Oh, and we're still waiting to have a beer with you in Norway - if you remember that sign I had for you in Trondheim ;)

I recorded your solo from the Sinner, so if you wanna check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9UIRORH1Rg

Hi Jonas. Yes many people have commented on Rob’s singing this year. Thanks for the video link. See you in Norway next time for that beer.

Regards K.K.

From Mindy Deitz. Warren MN:

Dear K.K.,

I was just wondering where can I get another Judas Priest necklace? Mine broke and it can’t be fixed. I feel so lost without it. I loved that necklace and everybody knew who my favorite band is.  And I also found a new radio station on the Satellite Radio. It’s boneyard and they play you guys a lot and I love it. I hope you are enjoying your tour, waiting for you guys to come to the US. Getting really jumpy but I will wait for you guys to come.

Hi Mindy. Yes the Boneyard is really cool. Sorry but I can’t help you with the necklace. Maybe if someone else reads this they may be able to help. I will keep my eyes open for you.

Regards K.K.

From Marla :

Hi Marla. Yes I am looking forward to a great summer. So glad you can all make it to the show.

Regards K.K.

From Jeanine, Milwaukee :

K.K., I noticed a Summerfest date of July 2nd on the tour (Harley Davidson stage). A lot of us ladies were going to get together for that show. I now noticed that date has disappeared. What happened?

Hi Jeanine. I am sure that show is going ahead as we are actually being sponsored by Harley Davidson for the tour so let’s see what happens next. Fingers crossed.

Regards K.K.

From Alex :

Hello K.K. and the Steel Mill team!

I'm just back from Paris and Bruxelles where I had the blast of my life! Two shows in a row and “Living After Midnight” as Bonus song in Paris was absolutely awesome! As always I was in front row for both show just in front of you when you did your mad “Sinner” solo!!! See the pics I took of you on both shows below, I hope you'll like them, this is you in Full Class!!! The crowd in Paris was completely sick and you guys looked and sounded so emotionally touched!

These shows were my fifth and sixth Priest concert and I'm sad that I still don't have one of your guitar picks!!! But who knows maybe next time? I know you're going to come in Europe again before X-mas so be sure I'll be there at front row again! I'll take a banner with a cool word for you guys. This “British Steel” tour is going to be crazy, no doubt about it!

I don't know if you remember, in Bruxelles, I was as I already said in front of you and at the end of the ”Green Manalishi” I was praising you with one of my friends like the two dudes in Waynes World (you know the "we're not worthy" scene) you saw us and had a big smile! This kind of moment is absolutely unique and unforgettable you know! I wanted to go to backstage but had to go back home. I know some of my friends saw you in Bruxelles and gave you a present! Next it'll be me and I'll give you some good beer!

I don't think I have any questions this time really. I just wanted to share that moment with you again. I want to feel the magic of the show a little more.
It's sad the Belgian crowd was not as good as the French one, but anyway as I was at both shows it was really the two best concerts in my life!!!

Oh yes at last I have a question... As you're going to play ”British Steel” in its entirety during the summer in the States and in Europe after that, when are you going to do the full “Nostradamus” show? I red somewhere that Glenn said you want to tour with Don Airey, but as he is currently touring with Deep Purple it's not possible for Priest to do that ”Nostradamus” tour. Is that true?

Final question for this time (it can sound stupid but I don't care haha) I know you have some cool cars, what's your favorite one? Do you own a Ferrari or something like that or do you prefer big 4X4 like your nice Range Rover I saw in you last video blog?

That's all for this time K.K. I wish you a good rest after the last show in Amsterdam and I wish you and the band an awesome tour with Whitesnake in the USA! See you in Europe again as soon as possible. See you soon K.K.!!!
Alex, your devoted fan from Belgium who dreams to meet you and shake your hands just one day!

Hi Alex. Yes I remember you and your friend. Thanks a lot for the cool photos. We are still hoping and planning the “Nostradamus” show. I guess if Don can’t do it then we could find someone else. I must say that I am happy to drive my Range Rover as I am always loading stuff, guitars, amps etc into it. I have had some fancy stuff in the past - Rolls, Porsche Turbo etc but if I want a bit of summer fun I have 2 classic cars, a 1965 Austin Healey 3000, 1959 Jensen 541R. See you next time on Wayne's World.

Regards K.K.

From Rebecca, New Zealand :

Hiya K.K. :)

I'm a massive Priest fan all the way down here in New Zealand and was wondering if you guys will make it down here in the future? I know the concert scheduled last year was cancelled due to logistics reasons, which is unfortunate. Also us Kiwis are terrible for buying tickets to gigs late in the piece. But I know a concert here in NZ would be kick arse and so appreciated, especially by me - you guys are the one band I want to see live more than any other. Cheers!

Hi Rebecca. Yes it was sad that the concert was cancelled. I was really looking forward to it. I sincerely hope that we will make it one day so hang on for us.

Regards K.K.

From Sygy  :

Hi! A little tribute of mine for the Metal Gods! So far as I know you don't have any Tattoos- or am I wrong? K.K. would you at least consider to get a Tattoo? I went to a few shows at the Priest Feast in 2008 and 2009. The Shows in 2008 were great but the shows in 2009 were even much better! Did you jump in a fountain of youth? You all were in such a great shape - play enthusiasm pure! Rob's voice is getting better and better- fantastic- even the high screams returned like in the 80's (I'm glad he abandoned smoking!) And you K.K.! You rocked the stage! For me "Sinner" was the highlight- It's your song!!! And Glenn and Ian were obviously very proud and happy on stage too! I'm just curious of the US ”British Steel” Tour 09! Probably it is time to add ”Nostradamus” the song in the setlist too and “Judas Rising” would also be fine... I hope you will play after this US Priest Summer Tour, the whole “Nostradamus” masterpiece with you, orchestra, huge stage and Rob as Nostradamus! It would be so special! Thank you.

Hi Sygy. I would not be opposed to getting a tattoo one day, I guess it’s just getting around to it. Yours do look well, cool. Cheers.

Regards K.K.

From Brandon  :

Hi, I am going to be taking my girl to the Cincinnati Priest show this July and was wondering if any backstage passes will be for sale for the show, regardless of price I am very interested. Thanks.

Hi Brandon. Sorry but I have never heard of passes for sale, except some meet and greets but I hope you enjoy the show even if you can only be out front.

Regards K.K.

From Matthew  :

Hello K.K., it's Matthew again from Texas. I know you guys are on tour and this time I do have some really serious questions since the others were practically stupid.

1. I've seen a bunch of your videos and pic of stage sets that Priest used on tour. What do you do with all of those sets when you are done promoting that album?

2. I've heard that you had a blue studded V like your red one. Do you think that you will bring that one into circulation in the upcoming tour?

3. What do you recall being the easiest song that you and Glenn have ever written?

4.I'm making slideshows to Priest and have figured out songs for Glenn, Scott, Rob and Ian. What song would you prefer and if I send you links will you watch them?

5. And finally, why did you guys never play "Burnin' Up" live? It was such a great song and one of my fave love songs from Priest.

Please answer if you have the time and the patience to do so. "Rock Hard, Ride Free".

Hi Matthew. 1) We usually leave them in the country where we last want to use them to be disposed of. 2) Actually I use the blue guitar to practice with backstage. 3) I am not sure about the easiest song but it may have been “Living After Midnight” or “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming.” 4) I will leave the song choice to you and of course I enjoy looking at what people send in. 5) I can’t remember playing that song but we may well have all those years ago. Thanks for the questions.

Regards K.K.
