Another classic Priest -record turned 40 this past year.
The somewhat cold soundscapes of “Stained Class” were now replaced by a much heavier, sharper sonic wall. “Killing Machine” in many ways was Priest’s first pure heavy metal album in all essential areas: songs, delivery and production. Of course with “British Steel” the metallic horizons would be taken even further, but for its time “Killing Machine” was a groundbreaking moment. Falling in between “Stained Class” and “British Steel,” it unfortunately often gets overlooked. The album contains possibly greatest heavy metal song ever “Hell Bent For Leather”, sharp-as-steel “Running Wild” and breath taking beauty of “Before The Dawn.”
Masterful exercise in classic heavy metal still taking shape and form.
