According to the band themselves, their influences range from Accept and Thin Lizzy to obviously Judas Priest and Saxon.<\/p>\n<p>Songs are reminiscent of all these benchmarks and have that Priest sound more akin to the lighter, commercial side of the band. Vocalist Matt Gore sounds professional enough, although I would have liked a bit more bite and spark in some places. But this is a minor thing. His voice reminds me a bit of MSG\u2019s Gary Barden, which suits this kind of classic sounding metal just fine.<\/p>\n<p>Guitar riffs sometimes recall classic Accept and then spin off into more commercial sounding territory. Songs are surprisingly catchy and although they don\u2019t strike you in the gut at first sight, they circle and creep into your subconscious over subsequent listening sessions.<\/p>\n<p>The band have used a drum machine here and unfortunately sound sometimes gives this away. On some songs the flat drum delivery distracts and draws your attention away from otherwise good material. And there is some worthwhile material herein. Best songs are the opening couplet \u201cFeed The Flames\u201d (now there is a good title!) and \u201cPassive Resistance.\u201d Also album\u2019s title cut \u201cLibertarian\u201d has catchy rhythm and bounces on with conviction.<\/p>\n<p>Overall this is good stuff, with real drummer behind them, some more live experience added and Devil\u2019s Dice are onto a good thing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kkdowning.net\/steelmill\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/3k.gif\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-701\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-701\" src=\"http:\/\/kkdowning.net\/steelmill\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/3k.gif\" alt=\"3k\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/l4_qODLi0F0?feature=player_detailpage\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n[\/three_fourth] [one_fourth_last]<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kkdowning.net\/steelmill\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Devils-Dice-Libertarian-album-cover.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3186\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3186\" src=\"http:\/\/kkdowning.net\/steelmill\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Devils-Dice-Libertarian-album-cover-300x294.jpg\" alt=\"Devil's Dice - Libertarian album cover\" width=\"300\" height=\"294\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kkdowning.net\/steelmill\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Devils-Dice-Libertarian-album-cover-300x294.jpg 300w, https:\/\/kkdowning.net\/steelmill\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Devils-Dice-Libertarian-album-cover-768x752.jpg 768w, https:\/\/kkdowning.net\/steelmill\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Devils-Dice-Libertarian-album-cover-65x65.jpg 65w, https:\/\/kkdowning.net\/steelmill\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Devils-Dice-Libertarian-album-cover.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>1.
