December 2008

Benjamin, Chile:

Hello K.K. First of all allow me to thank you for all these years of pure metal because you and your team mates have been the inspiration for my band and myself. We started a Judas Priest tribute band named Hellion over the early nineties when we got the “thrash metal” explosion in my country. So we had to open some shows for these at time very aggressive sounding bands, but you couldn’t believe how amazing was the reception of the public expecting something.  I insisted for that time a more brutal sound and tempos when we’d start the riffs of songs like “Electric Eye,” “Freewheel Burning,” “The Ripper” and many others, even “Living After Midnight”. These so called thrashers, hungry of death metal used to dance, run, sing, jump,…well the picture is very different by now because there is not much distance in the metal path of these days. Unfortunately we grow up, some of us  got married with regular jobs that is why we’ve got distanced but ….recently the other axe man of the band, the one who played the parts of Glenn “came back to life” so we are regrouping again  to start a new local attack like the old times because you know you may change your day but not way to live your life. I`m gearing up again and I don’t expect to get the same pro gear than you have for life but so far I’ve been trying the line 6 pod xt which works quite well. I read that in studio you use pro version of this so my question is what do you suggest me to get; the pod xt pro or the Digitech gsp 1101?? If you have tried this last one. Help would be really appreciated. Looking forward to see you on November 6th show!
Hi Benjamin. I am using the line 6 at the moment and Glenn is using the Digitech. They are both very good but it’s down to personal preference. I have both also and I may well change to the Digitech in the future. I can only advise that you judge for yourself at the gig.
Regards K.K.
Laurie:

Hey, The other sinful girls at the JP board are insisting I send this in to K.K. and the Millworkers.
Below are photos of a buddy of mine who is a very big fan. He loves guitars and practically worships Flying V’s. He even does this thing where he rubs his face on the guitar. It’s a little weird, but the girls absolutely love it.
Maybe K.K. will get a laugh out of it.

Hi Laurie. I am struggling to not print my first thoughts. I will simply say very nice photos. Thanks for sharing them!
Regards K.K.

Chris, California:

Hello K.K.
Thanks for the awesome Judas Priest performance I saw  August 31st at the Shoreline… San Francisco Bay Area. You guys were on fire that night and I loved the setlist… I wish you would have played ”Sinner” and “Death” but overall it was a killer show. I loved finally seeing and hearing “Eat Me Alive” live for the first time.
Will you please post on your webpage or on the Judas Priest Home page the music tabs to ”Eat Me Alive” and “Jawbreaker?”
Those are two classic Judas Priest Masterpieces and I would love to learn all those killer solo guitar riffs that you play!!!!
Thanks K.K.
You Rule!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Chris. I am on tour in South America at the moment but check out www.ultimateguitartabs.com. I think that they have all of the Priest tabs and guitar pro 5 is worth buying from them. Hope this helps for now
Regards K.K.

Breezy:

I was one of the lucky women from the sinfully delicious thread that was able to see you in Vegas. Not only was I struck at the sense of “timelessness” of you, not just your playing, your appearance, but just you. But I was also struck by the gorgeous guitars you brought out. One day, your classic red V will be upon my body, inked there for ever. But I found myself falling in love with these new V’s of yours. My question is, how long does it take for them to be made? Do you sit down and design it with them? Or do they bring the design idea to you?  And for the record? Your solo on ”Sinner” that night? Stole my soul. You looked how I felt. And it was sin incarnate. Thank you for the memories. Hugs.
Hi Breezy. I am happy that you enjoyed the concert and yes I am really liking my new guitars. They are indeed made to my custom requirements and are based on my original ESP design. You can check out KxK guitars Web pages they are to make a limited edition  run of about 12. I will also be showing more of them at the Steel Mill so keep in touch there.
Regards K.K.

Alex, Belgium:

Hi K.K. and the Millworkers! I saw you and the band in Luxembourg, Düsseldorf and Graspop!!! All I can say is that these were the best days of my life!!!

I was so nervous to see ”Sinner” and songs off the new album! It was awesome! The Luxembourg show had the best sound I had ever heard in a concert! Düsseldorf was the performance! So energic, so powerful and the way all the band rocked was breath taking!

In Düsseldorf I remember you had some problems with your new KxK V (really hot baby and I saw you have a red one on some pics from Australia) I was wondering what was the problem because you switched a lot of time the KxK with your black ESP (even in the middle of one song)? Was it the speedloader or something like that?

”Breaking The Law” with Doro? Let me tell you it was a pure Heavy Fu*%ing Metal moment !!! If I’m not wrong you’ve known Doro since the Fuel For Life Tour days back in 1986?

I also wanted to ask you if you could post some details or specifications about your new KxK V guitars which are really incredible (especially the red one)?

Final question, do you know if the band has plans to make a DVD of the Priest Feast tour? Because as always there are some bootlegs but, a nice official DVD of the current tour with this set list would be awesome!!! (”Sinner,” “Dissident Aggressor,” “Death,” “Devil’s Child” and “Rock Hard Ride Free” are so cool, you must do a DVD with these songs)

See you on the second European leg of the tour in Dublin, I will order my tickets this week and will be there with my girlfriend who saw The Priest in 1981 for the first time!!!

Keep forging your Heavy Metal!!!

Finally, let me congratulate you and the band for “Nostradamus,” this is a real Masterpiece, for sure your best album since “Defenders Of The Faith” or Painkiller!!! I hope to see ”Nostradamus” (the song) live in Dublin or during the second leg of the tour before the full “Nostradamus” tour…(yes I’m crazy, but hey, that’s Heavy Metal \m/  \m/ )

Bye K.K.!
Hi Alex. I can’t remember having any problems, I really like my new guitars and as you say the red one is very sweet. I am hoping to find time to do a feature on them soon at the Mill so I will tell you all about them. I am not sure if we will do a DVD but a CD may be possible. See you in Dublin.
P.S your Epiphone looks sweet too
Regards K.K.

Mindy:

Dear K.K.,

I just wanted to say Happy Birthday to you and Glenn. I was just wondering are you going to tour in the US again next year? I hope you say yes. I had a blast this year when you were at The Myth, I got to meet you and see your concert for the first time, and boy was I satisfied. And now I want to see you and the guys again. When you tour next year will you be playing songs like “Alone,” “Prophecy” and “Visions” and of course more songs like your old ones “Desert Plains,” “Bloodstone” and “Painkiller?” I was just wondering.

Keep rockin’!

I attached a picture of me with you and the guys thank you for letting my dream come true to see you and the guys.
Hi Mindy. Yes we are hoping to do a second run over to the States so we will look forward to seeing you again. I am happy how well the photo turned out too.
Regards K.K.

Laurie:

Hi, I thought the graphic design team might enjoy this photo of Downing with his very non-Apple Sony Vaio laptop 😉
BTW, thanks for posting the Sinfully Delicious Ladies photo!
You Girls!! How did you ever get this photo, I think I must start to check under my bed every night from now on before I go to sleep..any way 10 out of 10 for this one.

Hi K.K. I think a lot of collectors want to know where all those songs came? Can you tell us? And how did the Japanese have the honour to hear them before any one else? I hope you can tell the story.
Hi Ronen. We are on tour in South America at the moment so I do not have too much time to go into detail. But anyway it is nice to hear from someone in Israel. We are hoping that we can come and play for you before too long, maybe then I might get a chance to see you in person to give you more info on the songs. Please pass on our best wishes to all of the metal fans in your country and thank them for their patience for the Priest.
Regards K.K.

Rebecca Roberts, San Antonio:

Hi K.K.

I just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed your shows in San Antonio and Las Vegas. They were just fabulous! Your solo of “Sinner” was the best I have ever witnessed and I have seen Priest since…oh let me think…I guess it was “British Steel” back in 1980 at the Arena (no longer around) here in San Antonio. I also had the honour and privilege to meet the rest of the band this year. You were all so gracious. That was a wonderful thing to do…the VIP Meet and Greet.

My question has probably been asked before, but, don’t you need an extra person on the tours? LOL! An “assistant to the assistant”? I could be the “towel girl” or the “leather polisher”. Who wants all those men around? In all honesty and sincerity, after these shows, I have come away with such a wonderful feeling. It is this band which makes me happy and being able to still enjoy it after all these years, well, it is truly spectacular. Thank you for who you are and all that you do.

Hugs & much love.
Hi Rebecca. Thank you for your kind words and for your support over the years. I am sure that you would make the most efficient assistant but you know how it goes, anyway i am sure you are capable of much more prestigious duty’s. We are hoping to return to the States next year so we will see you then.
Regards K.K.

Emre, Turkey:

Hello K.K. I hope all is going well with you. This is my third or fourth question to you and thank you for replying all my questions with your kindness.
I was at Priest concert in Istanbul 13th of July 2008. That was the best 2 hours in my life. And it was the first visit of Priest to Turkiye. You were great, definitely it was the biggest stage set that ever made to my city. Venue was packed with 10k people, you know =)
My question is, why there was no song by Iron Maiden before the concert? Is it a rule of the band? I didnt understand that. Dont misunderstand me, my dream band is Priest but I think there has to me some Maiden because it’s a heavy metal concert. I really don’t like listening some death metal songs before heavy metal concerts.
And my second question is will there be a Priest Feast DVD? We want a DVD from this current tour. Releasing a DVD shouldnt be difficult for a band like Priest! Also there has to be a DVD too from Nostradamus tour =)) Take care Ken!!!
Hi Emre. Yes it was an amazing night for the Priest too. You may not have been aware but our support band was a local metal disc jockey, I can’t say that I remember what he did play or did not play but it all sounded cool from back stage. Yes we are trying to see what we can do to document this fantastic year that we have had. I am sure that we will at least have a live album from it, WE hope to see you again soon.
Regards K.K.

Laurie:

Hi K.K. You guys totally rocked Vegas!! That was my first Priest concert – I am a new fan (less than a year) and beginner guitarist. I’m hoping you will be able to solve a mystery. At the end of the ”Locked In” video when the guys ride off on their bikes, you seem to be missing. What happened? I could never figure out why they would let you fall behind after going to all that trouble to rescue Rob. P.S. Thanks for posting our Sinful gals photo!
Hi Laurie. I had not noticed myself actually, so I will check it out again to see if I can remember what happened, maybe I got a flat or something? Anyway I am so happy that the sinful gals had a good night in Vegas as I said I was not aware that you were all there. Please feel free to send us some more photos for the Fan Forge. As I said before, please let me know if you are together again and next time and I will come and say hello to you all.
Regards K.K.

Sygy:

Happy Birthday K.K.! Have a great Feast! I’m looking forward to see you again in 2009!

Thank you Sygy!

Laurie, Raleigh:

Happy birthday, K.K.!! How about a really big kiss from America?

LOL hope you enjoy your special day!
Thank you! Laurie I accept.

Rita:

”O lírio do heavy metal”
Happy Birthday…
(que Deus te ilumine com a mais bela estrela do cêu)

You are bright. I’ll give you a hug when you’re in Sao Paulo with Judas Priest in Credicard Hall 15/11 days (sorry my English) Cheers…
Thank you Rita and to everyone, see you all in Sao Paulo.
Regards K.K.

Sinful Girls:

K.K., all the girls from the Sinfully Delicious thread want to wish you a very Happy Birthday. One quick question for you that I hope you don’t mind answering:  Were you born in 1951 and Glenn in 1947? There seems to be some discrepancy on some websites. We love you all.

Hi Girls. Thank you all very much for your wishes. Yes these are the correct dates.
Regards K.K.

Margo:

Happy Birthday K.K.  You made me so happy when you answered my question and posted it on your Q&A section. You are an absolute sweetheart and I love you. I am curious. What do you want for your birthday? Are you still looking for a girlfriend or have you already found one? She will be a very lucky woman to have a good man like you. Good men like you are very rare. Enjoy your birthday, I know you’re in Mexico performing tonight. When we ever meet I would like to cover you in Love Bites. If you don’t mind (haha). Hugs and kisses. Come back to the US, I miss you.

Hi Margo. Thank you for your kind words and yes we are hoping to return to the States before next summer so maybe I will have a think of what I would like for my next birthday as they seem to come around pretty fast these days.
Regards K.K.

Mindy Deitz, Warren MN:

I just wanted to wish you and Glenn a Happy Belated Birthday. I saw your show at The Myth in MN and it was great, and I also got to meet you guys in person and that was really great. I always wanted to meet you and it was fun. My question is are you guys going to do the meet and greet again next year? That was a blast. And the other question is next year when you tour here in the States are you going to tour in ND? And I was just wondering if you were going to play “Alone,” “Sands Of Time” and all of your other great hits? All of your music are my number one hits. But I would really like to hear ”Angel,” “Lochness,” “Painkiller” and “Bloodstone.” Thank you again for the great experience I had to see you guys for the first time, can’t wait to see
you again.

Hi Mindy. I can’t say yet if we will do more meet and greets as it is still early. Also I am not sure if we will return to the same cities as the plan is to go everywhere that we did not cover this year. Anyway I hope that we can at least play some of your favourites for you.
Regards K.K.

Juan, Managua Nicaragua:

Hi K.K.

I am a really big fan. I could basically say I am a Priest addict. I love you guys and I find it amazing how you guys have stood up the test of time together for so many years. I have three questions for you:

1) What advice do you give to new upcoming bands so they can get their names out there and they can start to make a living with their music?

2) I have heard from many sources that they took you guys to court in the 1990’s. What was that all about?

3) What was the key to the succsess of Judas Priest?

I am really sorry about my spelling but English is my second language and i don’t spell right yet. I hope you guys keep on rocking. You are my idol. I play the guitar too and I hope to be as good as you some day.

Hi Juanca. Please do not apologise for your English spelling as it is excellent and it is great to hear from someone from Nicaragua. My Spanish is not very good ,but I think that means “water all around” please let us know? We just played a huge concert in Bogota a few days ago and we almost came to Costa Rica but that show did not come through. At least we know that we have many fans in both Southern and Central America so maybe next time we can play for you. Anyway your first Question is a very difficult one, as you know there are so many bands trying to make an impact. I can only advise that you work hard at it and try to pick the right people and try to be patient. If you know any professionals, maybe they can help you along. I am myself giving some young bands some help to get started. You can go on the Internet to find out about the court case, there is quit a bit of coverage there. I think our success was because of having the right formula of people that were on the same wavelength as each other. Please give all of the Metal fans in your country our best wishes and we hope to play for you one day soon.
Hola, Juanca,

David Noriega, Mexico:

Hi! I hope you’re well, this is the second time that I write to you and I want to wish you a happy birthday. I’m glad that you celebrate this special day in my country. I was at the concert in the sports palace in Mexico City and the show was awesome!!! “Rock Hard Ride Free” was my personal favourite!! I have a question: Is there any video archive of the ”Point Of Entry” and “Ram It Down” era?? It seems that there isn’t, but it’s a fact that in 1981 Judas Priest was successful enough to have some performance recorded. From the ”British Steel” era there are some performances that are in the “Electric Eye” DVD and from “Screaming For Vengeance” we got the “Live Vengeance” DVD, so I was curious about that. And I know that the late 80’s were a tough time for the band but it would be good to watch some songs performed live like: “Heavy Metal,” “Ram It Down,” “I’m A Rocker” or “Come And Get it.” Well it’s all, thanks for defending the faith all this years. And like Rob said at the end of the concert: “Viva Judas Fuckin’ Priest, Viva Heavy Metal, Viva Mexicoo!”

Hi David. Thank you for your wishing me a good birthday. I certainly had that as the concert was great and it was great do more shows in Mexico this time around. I think that you are correct about there not being much if anything to cover the eras that you mention but to be honest I now find that our fans know more than we do so maybe I could ask Jari from the Steel Mill to help us out to confirm things regarding your question (Editor’s note: There is at least one from 1981 and one from 1988 ,but both are bootlegs and quality is not too good, check out YouTube for the shows). See you next time.
Regards K.K.
